News Poll workers needed Nov. 6; Spread word to co-workers, friends Oct. 24, 2007 (updated Oct. 25, 2007) - Ohio law permits most public employees to work the polls on Election Day without using banked leave time. To be eligible, you must request and receive prior approval from your supervisor or manager. The decision is up to the employer, and may depend on workload and coverage. In years past, the ability for some agencies to grant this leave has varied. There are two ways that you can help:
OCSEA Governmental Affairs Director Kim Fellinger is asking OCSEA members in Central Ohio to consider working the polls next month and spread the word about the shortage to family and friends. Presiding judges are paid $160 for the work, training and transportation costs. The presiding judges are required to take a four-hour training course. The other poll workers are paid $110—$95 for Election Day and $15 for the 2-hour training. For more information or to sign up:
General information is available on the county board’s website or by calling 614-462-3100. See Related
