News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation Call Congress Now: Outcome of Nov. 6 vote to impact state funding, upcoming contract bargaining for public workers Nov. 5, 2007 - On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill that provides funding for America's biggest priorities — including veteran services, job training, health care and education. As AFSCME members, we are directly affected by this bill because it funds the work we do. Simply put, the more federal dollars we have funding our work, the more leverage we have during contract negotiations. President Bush has threatened to veto this bill, but we can stop him! Tell your representative to VOTE YES on the domestic funding bill and to OPPOSE President Bush's reckless veto threat.
We need Feedback: AFSCME is requesting that members report back any answers (or non-answers) to Barbara Coufal (bcoufal@afscme.org) or Blaine Rummel (brummel@afscme.org) so that we can maintain an accurate whip count. Remember: Be polite and respectful! The person who takes your call may not be able to give a direct answer on where your representative stands, but rest assured – your call counts! See Related
