Columbus ODJFS chapter goes above and beyond for PEOPLE

April 25, 2008 - Still on a high from the Building Union Power 8 Conference, leaders from ODJFS Chapter 2599 were bound and determined to sign up as many PEOPLE members as possible.

We’ve got to educate our members on the importance of giving to PEOPLE and the link to job security,” said chapter president Debra King.

At recent Health and Education fairs, sponsored jointly by the chapter and ODJFS, the chapter was able to reach out to members and urge them to sign up.

At the heavily-attended April 23 event held at the ODJFS Air Center complex, enthusiastic chapter leaders signed up nearly 50 new or updated PEOPLE members in only a two-hour span of time. Way to go Chap. 2599!

Representatives from the Union Education Trust and the Union Benefits Trust as well as representatives from 15 colleges and health insurance providers were on hand to field member questions and offer program details.

Other union leaders, chapter officers, stewards, and staff also were available to talk about a variety union resources and programs.

The final of three fairs is set for April 29 at the Riffe Center, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
