News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation ODNR releases layoff rationale; Union leaders help displaced workers May 16, 2008 - Today, OCSEA Assembly leaders met with Ohio Department of Natural Resources management and were provided a layoff rationale for the agency. The plan calls for a total of 22 positions to be abolished, of which 13 are represented by OCSEA. OCSEA shared with management details of a review OCSEA prepared that analyzed the management-to-staff ratios in ODNR, that showed a top-heavy management structure. The agency has promised a formal response to OCSEA’s analysis. Although the final number of abolished positions is lower than originally indicated, OCSEA is still concerned about the loss of any positions in an agency that has been hit very hard over the past several years. The union will continue to analyze the rationale. However, OCSEA will focus significant energy in securing employment for every affected member. OCSEA has already contacted the Regional Worker Adjustment Committee about this rationale and about what we can do to begin to ensure that all union members have a job. The union continues to analyze the rationale and will provide more information soon. See Related |
