News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation Get involved in Faith Vote Columbus; Several walk dates remain May 27, 2008 - On Saturday May 24, Columbus congregation members and students joined the Columbus Faith Vote effort to register voters and educate on the importance of voting. The walk began as St. Dominics Church on the eastside.
(above) Father Jim Colopy, left, pastor of St. Dominics Church in Columbus and Kisito Kikam, right, a student at the Ohio State University, went door-to-door in the neighborhood near the church. At this particular house, everyone was not only registered to vote, but very excited about the upcoming election.
Faith Vote Columbus is a non-partisan coalition of religious congregations, neighborhood associations, and labor unions, including OCSEA. Some of the goals of the group include increasing voter turnout in urban precincts, protecting the right to vote, and recruiting and training volunteers to engage in neighbor-to-neighbor non-partisan voter education campaigns.
