What are you doing Labor Day?
Wear solidarity, union pride on your shirt
Aug. 19, 2008 - What better day than Labor Day is there to speak up about the issues impacting workers and their families?
If ever working families needed change we can believe in, it’s now! People are working too hard for too little. They’re worried about paying for health care, mortgages, college tuition, and they can hardly believe their eyes at the gas pump.
So, whether it’s hosting a picnic for your chapter or wearing an AFSCME “green” t-shirt to the county fair, it’s a great time to remind friends, familiy and community members about the benefits of unions and the importance of electing labor-friendly candidates, especially in these hard times.
Let’s remind them that we all have an opportunity this November to help put America back on track.
Don't have a union t-shirt in your drawer yet? Order your AFSCME t-shirt online or talk to your local leaders to find out if they have OCSEA or other union-branded shirts you can wear on Labor Day.
Check out the links below for more information on getting involved this Labor Day and for more on the benefits of union membership
