TOUR STOPS - through Nov. 3

Oct. 2, 2008 (updated Oct. 31, 2008) -
Ohio AFL-CIO President Joe Rugola is touring Ohio on foot this fall to highlight the extreme price our state has paid for the economic policies of the Bush administration — policies Sen. McCain promises to keep alive, despite his empty parroting about "change."

In the last eight years, 1,098 Ohio factories and businesses have shut down or had mass layoffs.

Rugola is walking several hundred miles in northeast and southwest Ohio to visit some of these job sites and talk about why this election is urgently important to the future of all Ohio communities.

The tour began in Youngstown on Oct. 5. Check schedule below to see if your community is on the first leg of the tour. Rugola also spoke at the Oct. 4 Steward Conferences about electing labor-friendly candidates.

Join us in cheering on Rugola as he advocates for economic changes and good jobs for all working families. Keep checking back for new tour stops.

If you would like to join Pres. Rugola on the walk into the plant, he will be walking along US Rt. 22 to the plant gates. If not, we still welcome you to join us at 12:00 noon, at the plant site

The event will highlight the possible loss of 8,000 jobs due to the planned closure of the site. The closure is the result of a corporate merger made possible in part by the work of Rick Davis—who is McCain's campaign manager— while he was a lobbyist in 2003. Learn more below.
