News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation Ohio AFL-CIO Pres. Rugola's Road to Recovery walk wraps up at Statehouse rally Nov. 3, 2008 (updated at 2:30 p.m.) - Union members and leaders from across the state, including OCSEA Pres. Eddie Parks, stood up today with Ohio AFL-CIO Pres. Joe Rugola to protest the more than 180,000 good-paying jobs lost during the last eight years.
Regola has been walking tall for working families on the Road to Recovery to highlight the failed economic policies of the outgoing presidential administration. Labor leaders hope for cooperation and respect from the next adminstration. Rugola today wrapped up his 300-mile trek with a noon rally at the Statehouse, where he was met by Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher. The walk began Sunday, Oct. 5. He visited communities and businesses throughout the state to highlight the closure of nearly 1,100 plants, factories, and other workplaces over the last eight years. Alcatel / Lucent Technologies, located at 6200 E. Broad St. in Columbus, was the last stop before the Statehouse wrap up with Ohio's job creator, Lt. Gov. Fisher. Fisher also serves as the Director of Development and he is working with Gov. Ted Strickland to create jobs to turn around Ohio. Remember, our governor and lt. governor will need help from our next president to move forward with their plan to Turn Around Ohio. See Related
