News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation Noon rally today at Statehouse to protect essential public services
June 4, 2009 - OCSEA this afternoon will stand up with Ohio’s faith leaders, families, health and human service organizations and community members from across the state to call upon state leaders to make smart choices in this two-year budget plan. The coalition, Campaign to Protect Ohio's Future, will host the event 12 - 2 p.m. today on the West Lawn at the Statehouse in Columbus. All OCSEA members who work in downtown are encouraged to attend. The coalition will remind state leaders that during this recession, it’s more important than ever before to focus resources on local services that keep our workforce, families and communities strong, say coalition leaders. Ohioans are counting on our leaders, including Gov. Ted Now is the time to solve the state’s fiscal crisis using a balanced approach that includes increasing revenues to fully fund health and human services that support individuals and the Ohio economy. The OCSEA / AFSCME PEOPLE program—Public Employees Organized for Political and Legislative Equality—carries the voice of public employee union members to the Ohio Statehouse and Capitol Hill on issues like state agency budgets and other legislation that impacts the vital public services our members deliver and Ohioans count on. PEOPLE, the union's political action committee, depends on members' voluntary contributions, not union dues. See Related
