March 5, 2010 - The U.S. Senate is about to vote on an important jobs bill that includes critical funding to help states deal with huge budget shortfalls, and your senators need to hear from you TODAY!

Call Sen. George Voinovich right now and urge him to VOTE YES on the American Workers, States, and Business Relief Act.

Use the talking points below to urge U.S. Senator George Voinovich to vote for a real jobs bill that includes aid to states.

Economists agree that this is one of the most sure-fire ways to help our economy, and our country, recover. Every dollar invested in public service creates $1.41 in economic growth and that means not only more public service jobs, but also more jobs for all Americans.

Recently, more than one million Americans had their unemployment benefits disrupted recently because of the deplorable tactics of Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY). And unless we act now, you or someone you know could be the next victims of Republican obstructionism and heartless filibustering.

While it seems our message is getting through, NOW is the time to take the next step.

Here's the low down:

  • Call on U.S. Sen. George Voinovich to step up and pass the American Workers, State and Business Relief Act. The bill should include a 6-month extension of FMAP…a.k.a. fiscal aid to states through Medicaid.
  • Without further federal aid, states like Ohio will have to close budget gaps with brutal cuts that could cost the U.S. economy 900,000 jobs…and more than three million by 2012.
  • Medicaid investment that was included in last year’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act helped bring us back from the brink of another Depression. But the truth is, help is still needed because the recession is far deeper and has lasted longer than anyone thought.

CALL SENATOR GEORGE VOINOVICH!
