PEOPLE: Your Voice
Politicians make daily decisions that impact our jobs, families, and communities— from privatization to budget cuts to pensions — with or without our input. PEOPLE, however, is the instrument OCSEA / AFSCME Local 11 uses to amplify the voice of public employee union members in the Ohio Statehouse and Washington, D.C.
As AFSCME's Political Action Committee (PAC), PEOPLE depends on voluntary financial contributions to promote issues and candidates that benefit OCSEA members and their families. No union dues are used. Most union members involved with PEOPLE do so through a convenient check-off program, providing a regular contribution that OCSEA and AFSCME can count on to represent union members' interests in candidate and legislative campaigns. PEOPLE-wear Incentives are awarded for various contribution levels. Like all aspects of the union, PEOPLE is nothing without its members. To provide a strong political voice for public employees, OCSEA relies on member involvement. |
