| State Budget News Oppose budget cuts; Gather for April 9 statehouse rally, lobby day April 3, 2003 - OCSEA members are strongly encouraged to attend a rally/lobby day at the Statehouse being sponsored by the Emergency Campaign to Protect Ohio's Future on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. Union activists will be joined by dozens of human service, health and education groups as well as members from the AFSCME affiliate unions and other state employee unions who oppose cuts in state services. It's estimated that this will be the largest rally on this issue this year. Buses to the rally are scheduled to leave from several locations around the state. Like OCSEA, the Emergency Campaign to Protect Ohio's Future opposes the cuts in the state budget that have eliminated jobs and decimated state programs and agencies. The group is advocating for many of the same measures OCSEA has supported to address the budget crisis, including crafting new revenue streams. OCSEA leaders are strongly urged to take advantage of this day by contacting their state legislators and setting up meetings with them the day of the rally. Those attending the rally are asked to wear (AFSCME) green shirts and their Union Power buttons. For more information, contact OCSEA Customer Service at (888-OCSEA-11), or view the flyer below for details on bus departure times and locations for those planning to attend the rally. Print and share the flyer below to help spread the word about the rally. |
