Tell Sen. Voinovich to keep holding line against President Bush's irresponsible tax cuts

April 23, 2003 - Urge Sen. Voinovich to continue protecting jobs, education, health care and the economy in Ohio by OPPOSING the Bush tax cut. These huge federal tax cuts would impact federal funding streams to Ohio's state, county and local government services.

Call Sen. George Voinovich now at the following phone numbers:

  • (202) 224-3353
  • (216) 522-7095
  • (216) 522-7095
  • (419) 259-3895
  • (614) 469-6697
  • (513) 684-3265

Faced with strong Congressional opposition to his irresponsible tax cut proposal, President Bush last week demanded that Congress pass a "compromise" tax cut of at least $550 billion this year. That demand was aimed at Republican Sens. George Voinovich and Olympia Snowe, in particular, because of their efforts to reduce the Bush tax cut to no more than $350 billion—still a reckless sum with devastating consequences for the economy, public education, homeland security and hundreds of other urgent national priorities.

President Bush's tax-cut enforcers are already prowling Maine, Ohio, and other states to put pressure on moderate senators who will cast the deciding votes in the Senate. Today, you can help. Call Sen. Voinovich's office and urge the senator to keep fighting the president's unfair and irrational tax cut plan.

Americans need to know the real agenda driving Bush's tax-cut boosters. They need to know that sound economic planning isn't what this tax cut is about. It is about getting rid of government resources needed to fund essential programs and services. As Bush adviser and Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist put it, "If we had a little teeny government and a big deficit, I wouldn't care."

Urge Sen. Voinovich to continue protecting jobs, education, health care and the economy in Ohio by opposing the Bush tax cut - please call today.
