Quality "rocked" and members won prizes at convention

BY SANDY TROUT, OCSEA FIELD OPERATIONS

Sept. 14 , 2005 - At the quality booth at the OCSEA Convention in Cleveland, the home of Rock and Roll, six convention goers won $25.00 gift certificates to BP or Kroger.

The lucky winners are:

  • Melody Farnsworth – ODOT
  • Dwayne Lash – OVH
  • Deborah Lindsay-Thigpen – ODPS
  • Kenny Keirns – DAS
  • Earl Littlefield – Attorney General
  • Diane Peck – MR

But it wasn’t all fun and games. The Union Quality Network asked members to complete surveys. 214 surveys were completed representing 28 agencies, boards and commissions. These surveys tell us what our members are looking for in the way of training and support from the union as they strive to have a voice in their workplace.

So far information compiled from the surveys indicates that members would like to see the union provide training on the following topics

  • Leadership training
  • Basic QStP training
  • Team training

We also heard from 87 members that they would like to be contacted by one of the Union Quality Network members and we will begin contacting them soon.

Most members asked for support from the union supporting better union management cooperation in working on quality issues.

The Union Quality Network will be reviewing this information at its next meeting, Friday, September 23.
