OCSEA urges legislators to support veterans' agency with conditions on ODJFS

Nov. 19, 2007 - OCSEA recently penned a letter to members of the General Assembly who sit on the Veterans’ Study Council, articulating the union’s support for the creation of a single veteran’s state agency.

Although the letter expressed support for the consolidation of veterans’ affairs functions, the union is requesting that veterans’ employment representatives who primarily work in the state’s one-stops remain within ODJFS.

That way, job-seeking veterans will have access to all the resources the state has available to gain not only employment services but additional services provided by that agency.

The move to streamline veterans’ services into a single state agency is part of the governor’s initiative to increase benefits to Ohio veterans.

The Veterans Study Council will continue to meet on upcoming Mondays:

• Dec. 10, 2007 - 2 - 4 p.m. at the Riffe Bldg, Rm 1960, 19th Fl
