Women & Minority Conference 2018: Deadline extended

Posted May 4, 2018 by

During the weekend of May 18-20, OCSEA members will join together for the union's annual Women's Action and Minority and Community Affairs Conference. This year’s conference theme is: The Dream Continues with Us.

Registration for the event has been extended to May 10. No registrations will be accepted after that date.

Additionally, the Sawmill Creek Lodge is SOLD OUT. There is information on several overflow hotels available on the registration page.

The OCSEA Women and Minority/Community Affairs Committees work to take on the issues that face public employee women and minorities in the workplace. This year, emphasis will be paid to the impact the upcoming the Janus v. AFSCME U.S. Supreme Court case decision could have on women and minority public employees. The conference theme also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Memphis sanitation workers’ strike and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in conjunction with the national I AM 2018 initiative. The conference will draw inspiration from the heroes of Memphis: connecting their struggle to today’s challenges and celebrating the strong union history in the fight for civil rights.
