AFSCME leaders to speak at convention

Posted Aug. 8, 2017 by

OCSEA's Biennial Convention is just two weeks away, and your union is proud to announce some of the action-packed line up. OCSEA will welcome several special guests to this year's convention, including AFSCME International President Lee Saunders, AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride and AFSCME Iowa Council 61 President Danny Homan. The AFSCME leaders will talk about being union strong in the face of nationwide worker adversity and attacks. Homan will speak directly about how our AFSCME union brothers and sisters are fighting back against union-gutting right to work in Iowa.

The convention will take place Aug.-24-26 at the Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati. During the upcoming three-day event, elected union delegates will network, gather educational materials, cast votes for amendments to the OCSEA Constitution and Bylaws and approve resolutions, which call for OCSEA to take a stance on a wide range of issues from privatization to Right to Work and more.
