Our Puerto Rico sisters and brothers need our help

Posted Sep. 27, 2017 by

Maria was the strongest hurricane to strike Puerto Rico in almost a century. Residents of the island, including our AFSCME Council 95 sisters and brothers who live and work there, are just now beginning to take full stock of the devastation. And one thing is certain: Our sisters and brothers in the island need our help.

AFSCME is encouraging members to help our Puerto Rico union members by donating to the union’s Fallen Heroes Fund. The fund provides relief and immediate assistance to AFSCME members who fall victim to natural disasters and other tragedies.

Our AFSCME sisters and brothers in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and now Puerto Rico whose communities have been devastated by recent hurricanes are on the front lines of the disasters. They are doing what they do best: Serving their community. Helping people. These union brothers and sisters are also among those victimized and displaced by this storm. The coming weeks and months will be difficult ones as they try to put their lives back together. Donate now!
