Keeping OCSEA front line public workers safe

Posted Mar. 31, 2020 by

With so many OCSEA members working at essential jobs during this pandemic, OCSEA has pressed the state to provide masks or allow members to bring in their own masks in high risk workplaces. As of this writing, masks are being distributed in Ohio Developmental Centers (DODD) and Veteran's Homes. As of last week, DR&C and DYS are allowing union members to bring theirs from home until they are widely available. Please know, this is one of the union's highest priorities.

National recommendations regarding face masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are changing daily (sometimes hourly). Reports today even indicate that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) are considering altering the official guidance to encourage people (including the non-sick) to take measures to cover their faces amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Some members who have the potential of being exposed in the workplace may be worried about the risk of  those who live with them.
